About Fertility

Facing infertility, or any medical concern, can be daunting and emotionally taxing. Countless questions, worries, and fears may occupy your mind. There are so many unknowns associated with fertility treatment that may or may not be resolved over time, however, for most couples there is hope and they will realize their dream of having a child. By visiting myfertility.ca, you are taking an important step toward educating yourself and shedding some light on a complicated issue. There is plenty to learn about male and female fertility and to understand as you work toward your goal of having a child, so it is important to start information gathering sooner rather than later.

Infertility is a medical condition that results when you, your partner or both of you have physical conditions that interfere with the reproductive process. Many people are surprised to learn that one in six couples in Canada are infertile. It may be helpful to know that you are not alone in this experience and in your quest for answers about infertility.

Fortunately, in the majority of cases, infertility is treatable. Many cases are treated with conventional medical therapies such as medication or surgery, although newer techniques, such as ovarian stimulation (which uses fertility drugs), followed by in vitro fertilization (IVF) performed in an IVF clinic can increase the chances of success dramatically.

There is a lot of information to process and it probably won’t happen all at once. This section of myfertility.ca gives you a solid foundation as you move forward in your quest for fertility information, from understanding the reproductive process to learning what factors affect your fertility.
