Lifestyle & Infertility

Infertility is often determined by factors beyond your control, such as a physiological condition with which you were born or an illness. What you and your partner may not know is that some of the factors that influence fertility are within your control. For instance, smoking can cause menstrual abnormalities in women and considerable alcohol intake can affect sperm production in men.

Overcoming infertility is rarely as simple as cutting back on your alcohol intake or not smoking. But adjusting elements of your lifestyle may help improve your chances of conception.

This section highlights factors such as age, weight, smoking and drug and alcohol intake -- all of which can make conceiving a child more difficult.
