Fertility Treatment Coverage

Fertility medications and treatment can be expensive so it is important to thoroughly research your health plan to determine what is covered.

Every insurance company has a different policy regarding fertility drugs. Some drug plans offer coverage up to a specific dollar amount while others cover only a certain number of cycles, while many plans do not cover fertility drugs.

Your policy may have a significant influence on your treatment decisions. It may determine how many in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles you can attempt or the comprehensiveness of the diagnosis process.

It is important to be proactive. Educate yourself until you understand exactly what is available in your province and what you are eligible to receive. This section tells you how to gather information about your coverage.
