Anovulation

Anovulation is the medical term used for when a woman does not ovulate. Ovulation is the release of mature eggs from a woman’s ovary and is a critical part of the reproductive process.

Symptoms

Anovulation is a condition that can occur without any symptoms. The most common symptom is an extended period of time between each menstruation. Amenorrhea (the absence of menstruation) may signal anovulation, as well as an inconsistent basal body temperature (BBT).

Annovulation can result from several factors including hormonal imbalances, chronic illness, age and early menopause.

Treatment

Treatments for anovulation range from non-invasive methods such as drug therapy to more involved processes like surgical procedures. The types of treatments varies depending on the cause of the infertility and whether pregnancy is desired.
